Journeyman Machinist

The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking a Journeyman-Level Machinist to perform machining operations in support of developmental activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working from sketches, drawings, and engineering instructions to build intricate and complex parts, tools, and/or fixtures to specifications for development and prototype projects
- Planning and executing assignments using machine tools, such as milling machines and lathes (both CNC and manual), drill presses, shear, etc.
- Designing and constructing temporary tools, jigs, and fixtures needed to produce experimental parts
- Checking work to ensure dimensions are within prescribed tolerances
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma
- 5 years’ experience working in a machine shop
- Ability to interpret GD&T and conventional dimensioning
- Must have a solid working knowledge of advanced shop mathematics
- Solid understanding of the working qualities of various materials
- Must be a US citizen, lawful permanent resident of the US, or other US Person
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a prototype machine shop
- Experience with Mastercam CAD/CAM software
