Library Publicity Intern

HIRING RATE:  $14.71 - $18.02 Hourly
FULL SALARY RANGE:   $14.71 - $21.33 Hourly

Are you passionate about local government and eager to dive into the world of digital media management? We're looking for an enthusiastic Library Publicity Intern ready to explore a variety of administrative and operational roles with our library team.

As the Library Publicity Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience in local government communications, enhance your media teamwork skills, and master digital media management. This opportunity is perfect for you if you have basic office experience and a keen willingness to learn. In this role, you'll learn to prioritize, organize, and juggle multiple tasks independently and collaboratively, all while adapting to dynamic priorities.   • Supports library communication with the public to highlight new and updated services, facility expansion-related updates, and upcoming Library programs and initiatives.
  • Works in partnership and collaborates with the Public and Media Relations Department.
  • Attends and participates in meetings with Library staff and City departments regarding communications and outreach.
  • Creates program calendars and e-newsletters.
  • Proofreads and edits other promotional content to ensure adherence to AP and City style guides and consistency with other marketing collateral.
  • Assists with content creation for social media posts and campaigns.
  • Supports marketing efforts for upcoming events, including drafting emails and social media posts. 
  • Provides office support as needed on various projects.

Formal Education / Knowledge
Work requires a high school diploma, at least 24 hours of completed coursework at an accredited college or university, and current enrollment in a degree program at an accredited college or university with an area of study relevant to the position {Communications, Advertising, Marketing, etc.}.

Experience
No experience is required.

Certifications and Other Requirements
Valid Texas Drivers License
Experience Utilizing MS Office Applications

Overall Physical Strength Demands
Sedentary - Exerting up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time.
