Business Management Co-Op

Job Description

The Telemetry and Missiles (TMS) Division of the Physical Science Laboratory (PSL) is looking for motivated, energetic, and well-rounded Business Management and Accounting students for unique employment opportunities working in a fast-paced environment. Our Engineering team is in Anderson Hall on NMSU Main Campus. We are interested in hiring Junior or Senior Business Management or Accounting students to work as a Co-Op working alongside the Division Director and Production Manager, assisting our division program management and business rhythm.  The PSL-TMS provides technical, operational support and telemetry system hardware for various launch operations at White Sands Missile Range. This is a great student opportunity to work alongside engineers and technical staff in a production facility utilizing manufacturing software, working with an accounting office and interfacing with customers, while attending school.

Overview:

  • On Campus Co-op position
  • Pay rate: Starts at 15.00/hr
  • Minimum required hours: 15 hr/week

Requirements:

  • Business Management or Accounting Students (Junior or Senior)
  • GPA of 3.0 or Greater
  • Must be US citizen
  • Must participate in a bi-weekly 90-minute CREW seminar
  • Must be able to obtain Security Clearance within 6 Months

Job Duties:

  • Assist in work order management in Global Shop Manufacturing Software
  • Assist in work productivity reports in Global Shop Manufacturing Software
  • Assist in inventory reports in Global Shop Manufacturing Software
  • Maintain vendor records and files
  • Collect, update, and organize financial files
  • Assist in running monthly contract reports
  • Assist in documenting and updating departmental procedures.
  • Assist in researching and resolving billing discrepancies
  • Other duties as assigned.

This position is tied to the PSL Classified Ready Employee Workforce (CREW) Program, a program established to prepare students to effectively work and communicate in classified environments. Students engage in highly specialized experimental learning while working on government or industry-funded research projects under the supervision and mentorship of PSL technical personnel.

CREW participants are required to attend bi-weekly, paid 90-minute, National Security Seminar Series sessions during both Fall and Spring semesters. To remain compliant with CREW program requirements students are expected to prepare, attend, and participate in all scheduled lessons. PSL New Employee Orientation and CREW Orientation are mandatory of all participants with the possibility of additional PSL/NMSU training requirements.

Seminar sessions times are scheduled during the week in the evening, through coordination between the Instructor and CREW students. Upon graduating CREW students will have obtained broad understanding of U.S. National Security policy, and organizational structure and systems.
