Paralegal/Legal Program Coordinator
Alaska Network on Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault

Do you have a commitment to social justice? The Alaska Network on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault (ANDVSA) Legal Program is looking for a paralegal/legal program coordinator with a desire to work with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide litigation support to staff attorneys, primarily in family law and protective order cases.
  • Request records; compile discovery; index evidence.
  • Assist staff in preparation, filing, and service of motions and legal pleadings. Draft correspondence and other documents. Monitor and track the court docket and case schedule and assist staff attorneys with case scheduling.
  • Draft subpoenas; assemble exhibits, affidavits and other legal documents for use in case preparation and trial or administrative hearings.
  • Assist clients who are receiving pro se legal help.
  • Provide administrative and program support to ANDVSA Legal Program and member agencies.
  • Manage administrative tasks in Anchorage legal office.
  • Assist with maintenance of online case management system.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of ANDVSA Legal trainings and conferences.
  • Contribute to the achievement of ANDVSA’s strategic goals to end violence and oppression.
  • Participate in ANDVSA’s antiracism and anti-oppression efforts.
  • Attend ANDVSA trainings, meetings, and retreats.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
  • Skilled in oral and written communication.
  • Technology skills, particularly document/information management.
  • One year of experience working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively.
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing duties.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Paralegal certificate or five years’ experience providing litigation and administrative support in a law office.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Five or more years’ experience working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • Proficiency in Spanish, Tagalog, Russian, Hmong, or Yup’ik.

COMPENSATION
Salary DOE with a range of $53,625-$62,166/year. Competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision benefits for employee and dependents, life insurance, generous personal leave, and 403(b) retirement contributions.
