Davis Constructors currently has a Payroll Specialist position available in our Anchorage office. This position is responsible for all aspects of the payroll process. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Process weekly union and staff payroll
  • Calculate wages, overtime, deductions, contributions, and leave to ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements, wage determinations, and current federal and state law
  • Review payroll for accuracy and process corrections, as needed
  • Prepare and distribute weekly certified payroll reports and files
  • Prepare and submit union reports and remit payment
  • Compute and disburse garnishments and other withholdings, reconciling to the general ledger
  • Remit and report payroll taxes, and monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports, reconciling to the general ledger
  • Maintain all aspects of payroll records, including new hire setup and all changes
  • Perform payroll year end procedures, including W-2s and ACA reporting
  • Assist with audit preparation for year end, workers compensation, union, and job audits
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Education, Experience, Knowledge & Abilities:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in construction accounting and payroll required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree in Accounting or related field highly desired
  • Preference will be given to candidates with Sage 300 experience
  • Microsoft Office experience required, and ability to accurately manipulate large amounts of data in excel
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems concerning payroll in a timely manner, answer inquiries, and enforce payroll policies
  • Candidate must be able to comprehend and perform complex payroll work with accuracy and a strong sense of urgency.
  • Experience with union payroll and understanding of how to set up pay rates and benefits
  • High attention to detail and accuracy required
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to work independently, handle pressure, and meet deadlines
  • Must be able to multi-task efficiently and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Quick self-starter, team-oriented and able to work with different personalities and professional styles
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Ability to pass a background and drug screening
