Engineering Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION

As an Engineering Assistant, you will leverage your engineering knowledge to deliver challenging projects, support and learn from various project managers, and collaborate with peers throughout the team. You will receive both on-the-job and formal training as well as mentorship, camaraderie, and exposure to all phases of projects - from design and permitting through bidding and construction.

We are looking for an Engineering Assistant who is committed to working together to make Alaska better. REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Dedication to making Alaska better
  • Self-initiative to meet client deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record

PREFERRED

  • Current Engineering-in-Training certificate
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D design tools

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Collaborating with senior engineers, project managers, and peers to prepare project reports and develop plans, specifications, and estimates
  • Applying and growing your knowledge of engineering principals on real world problems to help people across Alaska
  • Traveling to urban locations and rural/remote villages throughout Alaska to gain experience working on projects in arctic and sub-arctic environments and connecting with a variety of people

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position involves office and fieldwork. Fieldwork will often be performed in remote locations throughout Alaska, frequently accessed by a small aircraft, four wheeler, snow machine, etc. While working in the field, inclement weather may be encountered.
When in the office, this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. Occasional climbing, kneeling or crouching, and reaching with hands and arms may be required.
