We are currently seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join our Water Resources team in Des Moines, IA.

Essential Functions
  • Effectively use AutoCAD Civil 3D to design various project features.
  • Prepare design computations and quantity estimates under the supervision of a licensed engineer.
  • Assist in preparation of reports, specifications, plan creation, and permit applications.
  • Interface with CAD designers and coordinate with other engineering departments on complex multi-discipline projects.
  • Assist in client contact and communications.
  • May include onsite construction observation duties.
Likely project areas: water resources projects consisting of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, storm water planning, stream restoration, design of flood reduction and water quality improvements, and watershed-scale plans and studies. Candidate must be willing to travel throughout the state/region for project meetings and project management related activities. 
  
Education, Experience and Skills    
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Ag/Bio Engineering
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, HydroCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using GIS Software preferred.
  • Experience with hydrological and hydraulic modeling tools a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with design team and clients.
  • Superior problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Solid communication and critical thinking skills, along with attention to detail.
  • Positive attitude under pressure, strong team player, responsible and self-motivated.
  • Must be able to work extended hours as needed to meet deadlines.
  • Valid Driver’s License and in good standing with periodic travel necessary.
