2023 Graduate - Aerospace & Mechanical Engineers

Are you ready to put your mechanical or aerospace engineering degree to work solving the critical challenges related to the defense of our nation and our service members? Are you interested in tackling the design challenges associated with hypersonic flight?
 
If so, then you are exactly the type of candidate we are looking for! We are seeking motivated candidates to join our dynamic group of engineers and scientists. As part of our diverse team you will work in a highly collaborative and engaging environment.
 
The Aerospace & Mechanical group has expertise in the areas of aerodynamics, aerothermal heating and heat transfer, single- and multi-body dynamics, finite element analysis (FEA), infrared signature prediction, propulsion, fluid analysis including computational fluid dynamics, mechanical design, multidisciplinary design optimization, and materials science. Group members actively influence the development of flight hardware prototypes and high-performance computing simulation software tools. The Group is highly-skilled in first principle modeling of physics-based analytical problems and uses numerous commercial and internally-developed computational tools.
 
We are currently looking for candidates with expertise in the areas of structural analysis, aerothermal heating and heat transfer, dynamics, and multidisciplinary design optimization.

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you…
  • Have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Are skilled or have interest in one of the following areas: aerothermal heating and heat transfer, and multidisciplinary design optimization.
  • Are a motivated self-starter with strong communications skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance. If you are selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
  • Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. To ensure the safety and well-being of the community, APL has established a policy requiring that all staff be vaccinated against COVID-19. All staff members must provide proof of full vaccination or have an approved medical or religious accommodation by their start date.
