Water Resource Control Engineer (JC-317710)

The State Water Resources Control Board’s Los Angeles Region has an opening for a Water Resource Control Engineer in the Oil and Gas Program. The position location is 320 W. 4th Street, Suite 200, Los Angeles, CA 90013.

Duties include:
  • Providing engineering support and consultation (in oral and/or written accounts) for reviewing, interpreting, and evaluating the validity of groundwater monitoring and reporting programs and studies for oil and gas Class II wastewater injection, Water Board’s Underground Storage Tank (UST) Program, and site remediation cases.
  • Reviewing plans and engineering documents for the construction of injection wells and UST sites.
  • Performing field inspections of injection wells and projects at oil and gas production sites. Field work may involve sampling associated with aquifer exemption submittals.
  • Preparing technical reports of water quality findings and make recommendations.
  • Performing engineering studies related to water quality at and near oil and gas wastewater injection sites.
  • Preparing written accounts of findings and determinations, and provide oral presentations for management, Board Members, and the public, as warranted.
