Product Test Engineer

BAE Systems is seeking an Entry-Level Product Test Engineer for our Controls and Avionics Solutions (CAS) business location in Fort Wayne, IN. Being a trusted provider of commercial aircraft solutions, the CAS business also develops, produces, and services advanced and highly reliable electronic controls for the leading manufacturers of commercial aircraft and their propulsion systems. As a member of BAE Systems’ team, you will have the opportunity to work hands-on with complex electronic controls and solve challenging technical problems that both enhance our products performance and matter to our customers.

In this Entry-Level Product Test Engineer role, the qualified candidate will be the engineering support interface for products within the Fort Wayne factory. Responsibilities include:
  • Defining, integrating, and maintaining hardware test requirements
  • Initiating continuous improvement of our electronic controls as a response to acceptance test yields and delivered quality metrics
  • Providing hands-on design engineering guidance and support to the manufacturing and service organizations (e.g. product investigations / root cause analysis and performance impact assessments).
  • Liaising with Design Engineering in Endicott, New York on design changes.

Performance in the role requires engagement with Programs, Operations, and our customer to support product performance, quality, reliability, and delivery issues.  Willing to train applicants with applicable background.

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite in the Fort Wayne, IN manufacturing facility and remote. Some light travel may be required (<10%)

Required Education, Experience, & Skills :
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent with 0-2 years experience. 
  • Ability to analyze and debug electronic circuits (e.g. analog, digital, power, and communication) and use various laboratory equipment (e.g. power supplies, multimeters, and oscilloscopes).
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret and implement electronic hardware test performance requirements.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to effectively multitask and manage priorities.
