Civil Railroad Designer – Omaha, NE 

We have a career opportunity for a Civil Designer to join our Railroad team. As a Civil Railroad Designer, you will work on various rail projects. You will design, and complete field investigations, analysis, calculations, and preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates. You are an ideal candidate if you hold your EIT certification and have aspirations of obtaining your P.E licensure.

  • You will gain experience interacting with clients, agencies, and other project stakeholders
  • You will work on challenging projects with a supportive team
  • You will complete project design plans and work closely with Project Managers and Project Engineers 
  • You will integrate data and perform fundamental analysis of project elements
  • You will design and draft elements and details
  • You will meet project deadlines on schedule and within budget 

What We Are Looking For:

  • You have 1-2 years of civil engineering design for railroad projects
  • You have a B.S. in Civil Engineering degree or related required
  • You are an Engineer-in-Training
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • You have basic knowledge of MicroStation and Inroads, and preferably with OpenRoads Designer
  • You have basic knowledge and experience of other related project elements such as Big Data Processing, GIS/ERSI, Drainage Design, Stormwater Permitting, and Site Utility (Sewer, Water, Natural Gas, etc.) Design
  • You have excellent organizational & communication skills to communicate complex technical concepts to engineers, clients, and public stakeholders.
  • You enjoy building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • You enjoy problem-solving and learning new technical skills
  • You are willing to accept occasional out-of-town travel to meet project demands
