In this role you will be a member of the electrical engineering team at Smith+Nephew Robotics. You are responsible for the development, electrical design, verification, and validation of new products from concept phase through design transfer, production, and launch phases using the processes and tools identified in the S+N Quality System related to Design Controls. This position is a member of a multi-functional project team working with engineering, marketing, manufacturing, quality, regulatory and other team members as appropriate to complete the electrical design requirements of the project.
This position functions in a technical role on one or more design teams representing electrical engineering and will involve working independently to apply technical knowledge to create and implement electrical design deliverables to meet the project requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Definition of electrical design inputs, prototyping, feasibility testing and the concepts.
- Responsible for electrical deliverables through all phases of the new product development cycle.
- Responsible for completion of electrical design verification and validation activities of NPD designs.
- Responsible for the creation and accuracy of documentation to comply with requirements of SN design control specifications and relevant regulatory bodies.
- Participate in biolabs working with surgeons to understand user needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Education: Bachelor’s in electrical or computer engineering or other related engineering field
Experience: 0-1 year of design experience
Preferred knowledge:
- Analog / Digital circuit design, analysis, and testing
- Systems using DSPs and Microcontrollers
- Proficiency in electrical laboratory equipment (oscilloscope, function generator).
- Some knowledge of PCB CAD tools
