NAVFAC NW is hiring entry level civil engineers to join our multi-disciplinary architectural and engineering team. The positions are with the Design & Construction Product Line located at Naval Base Kitsap Bangor in Silverdale, Washington. Projects typically include large, complex projects within the Northwest area of responsibility and most are at the three Navy installations in the Puget Sound region.  
Being a Navy civilian makes you a valuable member of the Navy team. The position responsibilities include:
1      Perform design analyses and calculations (grading, drainage, and utilities) for civil projects and prepare final detailed working drawings, project specifications, and Request for Proposals (RFPs) for a wide variety of facility types.
2      Analyze and design extensive civil alterations and modifications to existing facilities.
3      Utilize current AutoCAD and civil design/analysis software for the completion of design drawings and specifications.
4      Support planning for proper scope and budgeting during the project development process.
5      Conduct site investigation field trips to project sites, as required, to collect pertinent data and refine or develop project scope by inspection of existing conditions.
6      Coordinate activities with other engineers and architects to ensure that final detailed working drawings, specifications, and RFPs are properly integrated with the building systems.
7      Investigate or evaluate civil issues and concerns in existing facilities, and develop reports that include recommendations and options for remediation or corrective measures as applicable.
8      Perform Quality Control and Quality Assurance reviews of drawings, specifications, calculations, and studies.
9      Prepare design contract scopes, design fee estimates, and fee reconciliations to facilitate contracting consulting services.
10   Maintain knowledge of applicable civil codes & regulations (Federal, State, and local Department of Transportation, Department of Ecology, standards, stormwater regulations, etc.) and Department of Navy criteria & policies (Unified Facility Criteria and Unified Facility Guide Specifications) to effect good business decisions and compliance.
11   Perform technical administration of designs, design management, and coordination efforts with other engineers and architects involved in multidiscipline projects.
12   Participate in resolving complex construction and contractual problems.
13   Prepare for, manage, and lead major project meetings.
14   Construction support including review and approval of contractor's submittals to determine that they conform to the requirements of the contract drawings and specifications.
