What the EPA project is about

The Landscape and Aquatic Systems Modeling Branch (LASMB) in Ecosystems Processes Division (EPD) of the Center for Environmental Measurement and Modeling (CEMM) supports the mission of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by conducting process, modeling, and field research to assess the exposure risks of humans and ecosystems to natural and man-made stressors. LASMB is also responsible for developing innovative software tools for evaluating water quantity and quality. As part of this effort, the LASMB is conducting a research project (https://qed.epa.gov/hms/ ) focusing on the development of a state-of-the-art component-based watershed modeling system which can be used to compose workflows to assess water quantity and quality as they relate to exposure.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Master’s graduate to collaborate with EPA’s research team. Research experience includes:
  • Researching literature and databases related to watershed modeling;
  • Developing and documenting algorithms for modeling physical processes in watershed modeling;
  • Preparing manuscripts, reports, presentations, and user guides/manuals; and
