PCB Design Engineer Librarian

What you will be able to do
  • Work with multiple Engineering teams to create symbols and footprints using industry standards
  • Proficient in communicating with and driving suppliers to meet business critical milestones
  • Handle PCB fabrication and assembly methods
  • Work with component footprint design guidelines
  • Able to work with IPC-7351 and terminology as it relates to component manufacturing
  • Review and mark up component FAI's and measurement studies
  • Understand schedule impact to extended work hours in peak release design time
  • Able to support several design teams in parallel in a dynamic team environment
  • Able to interpret technical specifications for all types of components
  • Able to place parts in a schematic through layout and test part build function
  • Be liable and accountable for on-time and on-quality CAD work
  • Build ECAD Library components following the established Ford ECAD standards
  • Able to document/establish improvements to the ECAD process or procedures
  • Handle Root cause issues and resolve issues related to PCB Fabrication and/or Assembly
  • Design experiments and analyze raw data using Statistical analytic methods
  • Work closely with component suppliers to request and analyze measurement and/or reliability data of components (e.g. BGA’s, LGA’s, QFN’s, SOIC’s, etc.)
  • Have a sense of urgency required to meet business critical schedule milestones
  • Willing to travel occasionally to support PCB Assembly and Issue resolution at factories
The minimum requirements we seek
  • Bachelor’s Degree or in lieu of a degree, a High School Diploma or GED and 5+ years of experience working with Computer Aided Design (CAD)
  • 1+ year of experience with Design of Experiments and/or Statistical analytic methods (coursework/internship/co-op experience allowed)
  • 1+ year of experience with CAD Design tools (e.g. CATIA, Mentor Xpedition) (coursework/internship/co-op experience allowed)
Our preferred requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science
  • 3+ years of design experience
  • ECAD Librarian experience
  • Knowledge of software tools (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Minitab, CAD, etc.)
  • Experience using PLM tools
  • Familiarity with Automotive standards and specifications
  • Able to write scripts to perform automation or time saver improvements to the design tool environment
  • Working knowledge of IPC standards and PCB manufacturing best practices
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Motivated and self-starter
  • Strong collaboration and leadership skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with business users and engineering professionals (e.g. globally distributed teams, ability to adjust communications appropriately for the audience, work with all levels of management and diverse work groups, etc.)
