Applications Engineer

  • Location: Hillsboro, OR
  • Type: Full Time
  • Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00AM – 5:00PM

Job Summary:
The Applications Engineer provides engineering support for development and integration of Nikon Scan & Repeat (NSR) equipment in customer fab process and manufacturing environment. In some cases, troubleshooting is required to recover NSR performance or achieve consistent performance amongst a group of NSR systems. Typical support requires improving NSR performance beyond specification or to achieve customer specific goals. NSR performance is typically within the disciplines of productivity (wafers per hour), alignment (accuracy of wafer pattern placement), imaging (fidelity of wafer image formation), and immersion lithography principles. In addition, as needed, the Applications engineer will support Field Service personnel to achieve reliability and warranty specification.

Job Functions/Responsibilities:
  • Works with customer to provide Process support and tool integration in R&D and manufacturing environment
  • Provide support for NSR performance improvement that is beyond specification or compliance to non-specified condition
  • Assist in material update and delivery of internal / customer technical training on NSR platforms
  • Assists with execution of local projects which are executed through a variety of tactical methods.
  • Serves as local resource in supporting escalations requiring Process interfacing with other departmental entities
  • Partner with more experienced Applications Engineers in order to raise their skill level bar
  • Assist in supporting customer contract in all Best-Known Method areas under minimal supervision
  • Support Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP) with some assistance from more experienced engineers
  • Assist local Service and Customer Engineers, with assistance from more senior Applications engineers when appropriate
  • Provides back up local lead support in the absence of other site Engineers
  • Provides local point of contact for operational interactions with other departments.
  • Other duties as required

Functional/Technical Skills:
  • A self-starter, self-learner, and self-motivated individual who is data driven and result oriented
  • Proficiency with statistical concepts, analysis, and numerical analysis software (e.g. JMP)
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and can work on challenging issues and drive towards resolution
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary or cross-functional teams
  • Familiar with Project management concept and ability to manage multiple projects/inquiries
  • Must have sound Technical Writing Skills (effective communications)
  • Comfortable with use of IT business tools (MS office, SharePoint, Database Server, etc.)

Education/Experience
  • BS/MS/PhD in Engineering in Microelectronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Optical, Physics
  • Semiconductor Manufacturing background and Photolithograph experience preferred
