Audiologist (Virtual)
Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assures quality patient care through proper utilization of staff and equipment.
- Uses knowledge of principles and techniques in audiology.
- Communicates effectively orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, acoustics, applied acoustics, communication, psychoacoustics, and auditory/vestibular pathophysiology; and the ability to apply that knowledge in face to face and virtual settings.
- Knowledge of principles and techniques in the assessment and treatment of auditory and balance disorders.
- Perform functions associated with contemporary audiology scope of practice.
- Periodically re-evaluates and modifies treatment plan and goals as indicated based on the patient's medical status, response to treatment and anticipated therapeutic outcome(s).
- Communicates with patient, patient's family or legal guardian and/or other caregivers (professional and non-professional) about the risks, purpose and benefits of the treatment/intervention and anticipated therapeutic outcome(s).
- Completes re-certifications/assessments as per treatment plan.
- Follows established documentation policies and guidelines. Uses acceptable grammar, correct spelling and approved medical terminology and abbreviations according to department and policies.
- Discusses and coordinates patients/caregiver's needs with other health care professionals as indicated.
- Completes all job functions as per department and organization policies and procedures.
- Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (e.g. attends ongoing educational programs).
- Maintains required skills, licensure, regulatory requirements, and credentials needed to perform assigned duties.
- Keeps current with theory and practice through continuing education programs, journals, textbooks, and other literature, and in-service programs.
- Attends mandatory in-services and/or makes arrangements with the appropriate supervisor for satisfactory compliance.
- Acts as a liaison with other departments within the organization, is responsive to needs, follows up when appropriate, and updates and informs supervisor as appropriate.
- Consults with physicians and other health care practitioners related to diagnostic evaluation and treatment.
- Follows applicable informed consent and HIPAA rules on privacy and protecting patient rights.
- Assists in the orientation/training of new and existing medical staff.
- Assists in the training and supervision of students, trainees and fellows; providing feedback on progress toward established educational goals.
- Provides patient and family informed consent.
- Participates in developing guidelines, protocols and new patient programs evaluates effectiveness of existing programs.
- May be requested to serve on service level committees or task forces, or to represent the service/section on facility, network or national committees.
Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm MST
