Surgery Scheduler

Medical coding certificate and a minimum of 2 years experience in surgery coding, surgery scheduling or insurance billing required.

·        Serves as the expert for scheduling all elective surgical cases.
·        Coordinate’s hospital and physician surgery cases.
·        Provides codes and estimates to billing staff for surgeries.  
·        Ensures that insurance authorization has been obtained prior to surgery or that the surgery is rescheduled.
·        Codes office visits and surgeries as time allows.
·        Ensures all pre-operative required tests needed prior to surgery, are scheduled, and completed.
  • Coordinates and ensures necessary equipment is ordered, room availability/scheduled, pre-surgery medication, etc. is arranged prior to scheduled procedure.
  • Manages the hospital list of patients who are currently being followed.
  • Receives and screen calls relating to problems that may arise due to date changes and any reasons for cancellation.
  • Escalates non-routine issues to the physician and nursing team.
Must have the following:
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of computerized practice management systems.
  • Knowledge of insurance company procedures.
  • Knowledge of medical billing practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of insurance company procedures regarding reimbursements.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting.
  • Knowledge of computerized software programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory government provisions.
  • Skill in gathering, analyzing, and interpreting information. Requires great attention to detail.
  • Skill in exercising initiative, judgment and decision making to achieve department objectives.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in time management and organization.
  • Ability to maintain strictest confidentiality of financial and personal matters relating to ANAI patients and ANAI business activities.
  • Ability to be highly efficient, organized, and accurate in all work.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations tactfully.

Position requires prolonged sitting, occasional bending, stooping, stretching, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

You start with 2.5 weeks of PTO per year, and we offer an optional flexible work plan, with 10-hour shifts/4 days a week.
