Postdoctoral Fellow (Ay Lab)

Job summary:
Professor Ferhat Ay’s laboratory with the Center for Autoimmunity and Inflammation, and the Center for Cancer Immunotherapy, at the La Jolla Institute for Immunology (LJI) is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral candidate to undertake research in computational biology and analysis of next-generation sequencing datasets. The lab is currently funded by three different 5-year NIH grants to work on computational problems concerning immune-related diseases.

Successful candidates will conduct research in a dynamic and highly collaborative environment. The research will involve the development of novel computational methods for the analysis of next-generation sequencing datasets produced by the lab in relation to gene regulation in immune cells. These datasets will include epigenomic, transcriptomics, 3D genome organization, and single-cell experiments of immune cells in health and disease (asthma, cancer, and COVID-19). Experience in the analysis of single-cell data is a plus.

Requirements:
• Ph.D. with a strong background in Computer Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, or Bioinformatics
• Excellent programming skills in at least one programming language (preferably Python)
• Proven record of scientific publications in bioinformatics and/or genomics journals
• Ability to develop novel computational methods, algorithms, and data processing pipelines
• Excellent communication and presentation skills

How to apply:
In addition to completing the online application, interested applicants should submit a CV, a statement of research interests and contact information of 2-3 references to ferhatay@lji.org.

The successful candidate will undergo regular COVID-19 testing to obtain and maintain physical access to the institute, and will qualify for COVID-19 vaccination upon employment.
