The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Construction, has a full time vacancy for a Civil Engineer III.



SUMMARY:

Civil Engineer III: Supervises and performs all of the necessary engineering calculations and audit review processes in order to ultimately determine the final contract quantities and payments related to all engineering projects for the Bureau of Construction.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Civil Engineer III:
  • Supervises and trains assigned civil engineers and engineering technicians in proper audit procedures.
  • Manages the workflow of all employees who perform audits and supervisory reviews.
  • Performs engineering calculations of specific contract items ensuring adherence to plans and specifications. Also, checks other engineering calculations that have been computed by field personnel to determine accuracy. Updates the Construction Management System (iPD Web) accordingly.
  • Utilizes computer applications such as Bluebeam, in order to compute areas and distances on project plans.
  • Meets with contractors' personnel and project personnel for the final project review and resolution of quantity differences.
  • Meets with Bureau managers regularly to inform them of the progress of project audits.
  • Makes frequent contact with Contract Administrators and Field Support Staff to determine correct measurement of certain contract items and resolve any issues in order to complete the audit.
  • Manages the yearly physical inventory for the entire Bureau.
  • Manages the workflow of Winter Assignment employees.
  • Shares responsibility with Construction Services, including but not limited to answering office phones, updating databases, and assisting walk-ins with questions from the field.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

CIVIL ENGINEER III:
Education: Master's degree from an accredited institute of higher education with a major study in engineering
Experience: 2 years of post baccalaureate experience in engineering.
OR
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institute of higher education with a major study in engineering.
Experience: 4 years of post baccalaureate experience in engineering.
OR
Education: Associate's degree from an accredited institute of higher education with a major study in engineering or engineering technology.
Experience: 4 years of experience in engineering in which position is assigned at a level equivalent to Civil Engineer I (or higher), plus 2 additional years of experience in a position comparable to an Engineering Technician.

License/Certification:
  • Must possess an Engineer-in-Training Certificate issued by the NH Office of Professional Licensure and Certification.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and/or have access to transportation for statewide travel. The applicant's Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the hiring agency.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: All accountabilities must be performed in accordance with State and Department rules and policies, including risk management, safety and environmental standards, regulations and administrative orders.
