Position Overview


The Data Systems Manager will coordinate the execution and refinement of Propeller’s monitoring and evaluation plan, supporting the programs team in the collection of high-quality data in order to effectively report on our impact as an organization and evaluate the success and opportunities for improvement. The Data Systems Manager will also be responsible for the design and implementation of our data collection systems and reporting on our impact both internally and externally. This person will work closely with Propeller’s Senior Storytelling Manger and Programs team leadership to ensure effective systems and procedures are implemented to successfully capture, analyze, and relay the impact of our programming. 





Major Responsibilities & Outcomes 


Data Systems
  • Administer and build out Propeller’s data capture systems, including Salesforce, Form Assembly, and Dropbox.
  • Ensure connectivity and efficiencies are in place for data systems to interact successfully.
  • Codify, train, and work closely with relevant departments and Propeller consultants to ensure management and upkeep of data systems to ensure accurate and comprehensive programming data.

Data Collection
  • Determine quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods for grant requirements, including outcomes, benchmarks, methods of measurement, logic models, etc. 
  • Work with program/initiative leads to iteratively define project goals and develop monitoring and evaluation plans for all initiatives and programs.
  • Manage annual data capture calendar, strategy, and timelines to ensure comprehensive data capture.
  • Monitor and evaluate programming for achieving Propeller’s internally developed and funders’ contractually designated objectives. 

Data Analysis
  • Regularly summarize and internally distribute findings with graphics and narratives to drive decision making across organization with a particular emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Manage internal metric reporting, evaluating and compiling data for quarterly analysis.
  • Proactively identify key programs and theme areas for evaluation and analysis.
  • Develop compelling, factual, quality reporting materials, including supporting on narrative reports and proposals as necessary.

  • Able to build and administer database systems. Interest in applying existing database administration skills to Salesforce. Other comparable data systems include Access, SPSS, etc.
  • Able to execute on data collection processes, research, program evaluation, and data analysis initiatives
  • Analytical skills – Able to structure and process qualitative or quantitative data. Able to generate reports based on findings. Able to conduct complex analysis and make recommendations.
  • Organization, planning, and attention to detail – Plans, organizes, schedules, and budgets time in an efficient, productive manner. Precision and quality focused, methodical, with great patience and attention to detail. Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Interpersonal skills -- Able to tune into others’ feelings, thoughts, and motivations and earn trust by consistently demonstrating integrity, authenticity, and professional competence. Takes responsibility for resolving inquiries from teammates with accurate, consistent and timely responses.
  • Minimum of a BA; Masters Degree in related field preferred.
  • (Preferred) Experience working alongside prominent New Orleans communities of color (Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Vietnamese-American, and others).
  • (Preferred) Experience with writing quality data-driven reports with 100% accuracy.

Compensation: $61,096 - $71,096, dependent on level of Salesforce experience and knowledge. Propeller also offers a competitive benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision insurance; long- and short-term disability insurance; retirement, paid time off, and professional development.)

Location: New Orleans, LA. Applicant must be located or willing to relocate to New Orleans. Remote work is possible for Q1 and Q2 2021.
