SURVEY TEAM TECHNICIAN II (Mass Recruit)

 Survey Team Technician II
Labor Grade 12: $34,047.00 - $46,527.00
 37-1/2 Hours per week

The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of The Right-of-Way, has two full-time vacancies for Survey Team Technician II.
 
SUMMARY: To perform technical surveying duties which include assisting in operating a variety of surveying and measuring instruments.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or high school equivalency credential.
Experience: Three years' of progressively increasing responsibility and experience in a survey environment utilizing survey equipment.
OR
Education: Associate's degree from an accredited institute of higher education with a major study in an engineering or forestry curriculum.
Experience: One year of experience in a survey environment utilizing survey equipment.
 
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Must possess a valid driver's license and access to transportation if required for performing survey fieldwork. The applicant’s Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the hiring agency.
 
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: All accountabilities must be performed in accordance with State and Department rules and policies, including risk management, safety and environmental standards, regulations and administrative orders.

18 Months of additional relevant experience = Associate's degree
36 Months of additional relevant experience = Bachelor's degree
54 Months of additional relevant experience = Master's degree

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Reads preliminary and construction plans and does preliminary surveying, including running of proposed centerlines from photographs.
  • Runs curves and tangent lines and turns angles.
  • Records and compiles survey field notes.
  • Understands and uses geometric and trigonometric computations.
  • Ensures that survey instruments are maintained in good operating condition through periodic cleaning and inspection.
  • Operates survey instruments in the absence of the instrument operator or as assigned.
