Summer Internship Program
Are you a college student looking for an exciting summer internship in public safety?
The Prince William County Police Department is seeking qualified college students for paid internships. Selected applicants will work no more than 20 hours per week for 6 weeks and receive $18.00 an hour. Qualified candidates
must meet the following criteria:
STUDENTS MUST PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION
- College transcript (unofficial may be submitted)
- Cover letter (addressed to Police Personnel Manager) which includes the following information:
- Description of your interest in the Prince William County Police Department
- How this internship will benefit you and how will it apply to your future goals
- Credit hours to be obtained through an internship
- Internship hours required by your college
- College reporting requirements (evaluations, special projects, etc.)
- Minimum of one letter of recommendation (preferably from a Department Chair) *may be turned in at a later time*
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Preferably in Junior or Senior year of college/university
- Must be in good academic standing with college/university
- Must be of good Moral Character
- Must not have been convicted of or have pled guilty/no contest to a felony or any offense that would be a felony if committed in the state of Virginia
- Must not have been convicted of a misdemeanor of a serious nature that reflects moral turpitude or indicates a tendency to disregard the law
- Must be willing to complete a background investigation to include interview, criminal history checks, and drug screening
STUDENTS SELECTED CAN EXPECT TO GAIN FIRSTHAND EXPERIENCE IN A VARIETY OF AREAS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT TO INCLUDE:
- Patrol
- Forensics
- Criminal Investigations
- Police Administration
