Project Engineering Intern

CVE is seeking motivated and hard-working Summer Project Engineering Interns to join our team.  This internship provides hands-on experience supporting electrical construction projects, including project planning, coordination, estimating, material management, documentation, and site oversight. 

As a Project Engineering Intern, you will assist experienced project managers, engineers, estimators and teams with a variety of office and field tasks while learning industry best practices.  This is an excellent opportunity to gain real-world construction management experience in a safe, collaborative and fast-paced environment. 

What you’ll learn and do: 

  • Support project planning, coordination and execution for electrical construction projects under guidance from project managers and project engineers. 
  • Assist with reviewing specifications, ensuring technical accuracy, and contributing to project documentation (e.g. change orders, RFIs, submittals). 
  • Aid in material sourcing, purchasing, inventory tracking, and delivery coordination to meet project schedules. 
  • Help prepare cost estimates by gathering data, obtaining quotes, reviewing bids, and supporting accurate project pricing. 
  • Participate in monitoring project timelines, budgets, quality control and worksite coordination during site visits/inspections. 
  • Collaborate with team members across departments (engineering, procurement, estimating, project management, field teams) and external partners like contractors and vendors to ensure smooth project execution. 
  • Perform general support tasks such as organizing data, preparing reports, and contributing to team efforts on significant construction projects. 

What you bring:   

  • Current valid driver’s license with a clean record
  • Ability to pass a drug test
  • Availability to work 40+ hours/ week during the summer period 
  • Flexibility to be assigned to various project sites/locations in Utah 
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively 
  • Enthusiasm, willingness to learn and a strong work ethic
  • Ideal candidates are students pursuing degrees in electrical engineering, construction management, civil engineering, or related fields (or those seeking hands-on experience in project engineering and management)
