Bluebikes Community Organizer

Overview of Position:

Are you passionate about cycling and eager to make a positive impact in your community? Join the Bluebikes team as an Community Organizer and be a part of a movement that shares the joy of biking while promoting social equity. This role is perfect for energetic and outgoing individuals who want to inspire others and make a difference. As a Community Organizer, you'll be the face of Bluebikes, promoting memberships, registering new members, and educating Boston area residents about the transformative power of bike sharing.

 

This is a seasonal position, offering up to 15 hours per week, with mainly daytime hours and common weekend work for special events, and occasional evening work. The Outreach season runs from May through the end of October 2026, but we will need one person to begin in February to get materials prepped for the year.

 

Key Aspects of Position:

  • Be a friendly and enthusiastic ambassador for the Bluebikes brand at various events and locations, like Bluebikes stations, community gatherings, organized rides, and special events around the Boston area.
  • Work together with the Bluebikes Outreach Team to create fun and successful events
  • Make Bluebikes a well-loved and recognized part of the community, making biking easy and enjoyable for all.
  • Assist community members in signing up for income eligible programs including Boston Bikes Pass.
  • Lead fun, informative demos on station/app use, and offer short rides to share the joy of cycling.
  • Capture photos and feedback from events, and complete team reporting.
  • Be flexible and ready to work some evenings and weekends.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Must live in or be comfortable traveling throughout the Bluebikes Boston Metro service area.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, standing for long periods, and lifting up to 50 lbs, including bending and stooping.
  • Can communicate effectively with people of all ages, abilities, cultural groups, economic statuses, sexual orientations, and disabilities.
  • Outgoing and energetic and comfortable speaking with strangers and in public
  • Ability and comfort in riding a Bluebikes bike
  • Works well in a team and fosters team spirit
  • Prompt and punctual self-starter, able to work effectively and reliably with minimal supervision
  • Ability to take direction and to learn basic facts about the Bluebikes system
  • Good at solving problems, thinking creatively, and self-motivation
  • Attention to detail, strong customer service skills
