Construction Summer Intern (Anchorage, AK)

HPM is seeking college students in Construction Management, Engineering, or other construction-related degree programs for our 2026 Summer Internship program. We are hiring several interns for our Anchorage, AK location. Our interns work alongside our teams in the field, contributing to real projects and learning what it takes to be a solutions provider for our clients, partners, and people. 

 

About HPM, Inc.:

HPM is a General Contractor headquartered in Denver,  Colorado with a focus in three primary working groups; 1) Federal, 2) Commercial, and 3) Civil. We work primarily out of Anchorage, AK although we are looking at opportunities all around the state.  We pride ourselves in managing clean, organized, and professional projects from start to finish with an emphasis on successful client relationships. Much of our work is for repeat clients including local governments, private clients, and the federal government. We utilize proven project management fundamentals on each of our projects.

Location: On-site, fully in person. 

 

Job Level: Internship

 

Employment Type: summer internship – $25/hour pay, 40+ hrs/week for 10-12 weeks

 

Benefits: Our interns have access to our 401k retirement plan with 4% matching that is fully vested from the start date, 529 college savings plan, and any holidays that fall while actively employed (typically Memorial Day and Independence Day).

 

Pay:  $24/hour

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Become familiar with HPM’s culture and business practices and how they affect client, subcontractor, and HPM team member relationships
  • Assists project team with maintaining record documents such as testing, inspections, progress photographs, daily reports, etc.
  • Attends daily and weekly project meetings with both HPM team and external parties such as subcontractors, vendors, clients
  • Performs tasks related to the collection of schedule data required to monitor project progress
  • Assist in the packaging and preparation of submittals, change orders, RFIs, and posting of contracting documents
  • Becomes familiar with contract drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and submittals to ensure compliance of work and gain overall understanding of scope of work
  • Assists with project tasks as assigned, could be a variety of hands-on field work, surveying duties, computer-based tasks, depending on project needs

Education and Certification Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Enrolled in college program related to construction, typically has completed at least two (2) years of college coursework

 

Basic Requirements:

  • Must be a US citizen due to federal contractor requirements
  • Must be over the age of 18 to apply
  • A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record is required, as per company standards.
  • Must be teachable, open and responsive to feedback
  • Must be driven and excited to gain hands-on experience
  • Must have a commitment to safety, working closely with team members to prevent accidents/injuries
  • Must have solid computer skills 
  • Ensure consistent and punctual attendance, demonstrating reliability and regularity.
  • Complete tasks within designated deadlines during standard operating hours and be available for overtime and weekend work as necessary
  • Work safely and efficiently, adhering to both oral and written instructions, including safety protocols, equipment guidelines, and company policies
  • Sit, stand and/or walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift 25+ pounds frequently
