About the Internship
This internship will provide the opportunity to get hands-on experience working in the Accounts Payable Department. The candidate will work hand-in-hand with various staff members, learning and enhancing their skills. The internship also gives the candidate a glimpse into a highly operational unit.
Responsibilities
- Perform tasks related to the Electronic Invoicing Project, including documentation collection, testing, and process support.
- Assist with invoice & payment analysis and support the monthly closing process.
- Support the Citi Payment Exchange Project, including onboarding existing and new vendors for ACH (Automatic Clearing House) payments.
- Participate in Operating Expenses reviews and variance monitoring.
- Assist with Business Travel operations & SAP Travel Management tasks.
- Process travel related to registration payments and associated expenses in preparation for Payroll and the month-end close.
- Support the Agency Vendor Management Project, including ongoing cleanup and maintenance of Vendor Master files.
- Conduct analysis of Good Receipt/Invoice Receipt (GR/IR), Service Entries, and Payment Request Report, and assist with other divisional assignments as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Enrollment at a college or university at the time of the internship
- Major in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and systems such as SAP.
- Basic accounting knowledge and comfort using standard business machines (scanner, fax, telephone, copier)
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Flexibility to rotate among assignments and strong work initiative.
Internship Details
- The start date will be Thursday, May 28, 2026
- The internship will last approximately 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 21, 2026
- This is a full-time internship (5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day)
- In accordance with Port Authority policy, this position permits interns to work remotely a maximum of one day per week. In person collaboration is essential to how the Port Authority conducts business and regular in-office days or team collaboration days may be required depending on business needs. Some internships may require interns to be fully in-person.

Compensation & Benefits
- The hourly rate range is $18.07 to $30.31 (the exact rate will be determined by internship type and rising school year)
