Volunteer Tax Preparer - 2026 Season

Campaign for Working Families (CWF) offers its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program throughout Philadelphia, New York City, and New Jersey.  The VITA initiative has established a network of community-based tax sites, that provide free tax preparation services to low-to-moderate income individuals and families. CWF trains and IRS certifies hundreds of volunteers each year that work alongside highly specialized and trained staff to help tax filers in more than 10 different languages and have translated returns into more than 40 languages.

The Volunteer Tax Preparer at Campaign for Working Families (CWF) will provide tax assistance to individuals and families, and support clients in navigating the complexities of Federal and State tax systems.

The Volunteer Tax Preparer will be tasked with the preparation of accurate tax returns, while upholding the confidentiality and trust of the clients served. 

Key aspects of the role include conducting thorough interviews to accurately capture taxpayer information, reviewing financial documents, and translating complex tax law into actionable data entry that supports the filing of a complete and accurate tax return.  The Volunteer Tax Preparer plays a significant role in advancing the financial well-being of the communities served by CWF. 

CWF Volunteers create their own schedule and are asked to commit to serving a total of 30 hours throughout the tax season (January-April). Volunteer hours can be done in-person or remotely.
