About the Position:

Under the general direction of the Office Chief of Strategic Safety and Implementation, a Supervising Transportation Engineer (Manager), the incumbent, a Senior Transportation Engineer (Specialist), is responsible for implementing Vulnerable Road Users (VRU) safety initiatives,VRU-related programs, policies, and guidelines for VRU road safety measures.

The incumbent serves as a subject matter expert and provides technical advice regarding VRU safety and operational issues, evaluates safety concerns related to VRU, and provides recommendations and guidance to implement a Safe System Approach. The incumbent provides technical expertise in using the Highway Safety Manual quantitative analysis methods and qualitative considerations to estimate safety performance and evaluate the effectiveness of countermeasures for roadways, especially concerning VRU.
